This is our list of software that is\nessential to have installed, and should be considered essential when it comes\nto keeping a Mac or Windows PC<\/a> up to date, and running smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TreeSize<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

First up we have TreeSize. This simple, yet\npriceless software is the ultimate solution to keeping track of what you have\non the hard drive, how much space is being occupied by which files. More\nimportantly, it shows where space can be saved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All too often PC users let their hard drive\nget cluttered up with mountains of unnecessary, and even useless, software. For\nexample, driver packs are downloaded and installed on a regular basis, yet many\ntend to look that after installation, the base package remains in the\n\u2018downloads\u2019 folder. These forgotten lumps of useless software add up over time,\nand can eventually swallow up a huge slice of space. TreeSize will help with\njust such a situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem with Windows Media Player is that\nit just isn\u2019t very well made. Microsoft have crammed far too much into\nsomething that doesn\u2019t need to be anywhere near as complicated, turning the\nsimple act of wanting to watch a clip into a painfully slow and tedious\nexperience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The solution is VLC Media Player<\/a>. It\nis lightning fast, and does exactly what you expect it to. Watching videos of\nany size, and encoded with any obscure codex, is fast and simple. Just don\u2019t\nforget to keep it updated.\n\nTruth be told, this little, highly capable bit of\nsoftware puts Microsoft to shame, making you wonder what exactly the big brains\nin that multibillion dollar corporation<\/a> were thinking.
